Mayberry Water Meter Change Out Program
Ellicott Utilities Company, LLC (EUC) has initiated a water meter changeout program to upgrade your existing standard water meter to a new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Smart Meter. This upgrade is part of our ongoing effort to modernize our water system, improve reliability, and enhance your access to real-time water usage information. EUC intends to change all customer meters within the Mayberry Community over the next six weeks.
Your new AMI Smart Meter will use secure wireless technology to automatically transmit readings to the meter monitoring system. This provides several important benefits, including:

-
Accurate and timely billing
-
Water consumption reporting as required by water rights regulations
-
Early leak detection
-
Real-time usage information
-
Improved customer service and issue resolution
-
Environmental benefits
-
Promotion of water conservation
-
Improved system management
With your new AMI Smart Meter, you will be provided real-time access to your water use, and you will have the ability to receive notifications about your water system performance through the mobile app EyeOnWater. Additional information about the app will be provided once your new meter is installed.
A trained technician retained by EUC will perform the installation at no cost to you. The process usually takes 15-30 minutes, and your water service may be briefly interrupted during installation.
An EUC representative will be reaching out soon to schedule your water meter changeout appointment. In order to avoid water service disruption, we ask that all customers work with the representative to schedule your new meter installation.
Questions about your new AMI Smart Meter can be emailed to CustomerService@EllicottUtilitiesCompany.org and we will do our best to respond within 72 hours.

We appreciate your cooperation as we invest in a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable water system for our customers.
Mayberry Customer AMI Smart Meters FAQs
Is my new meter fully activated in your system yet?
Your new meter is typically fully activated within 72 hours of installation. Exact timing may depend on weekends, holidays, and technician availability to upload the information.
When will I start seeing data from the new meter in EyeOnWater?
As soon as possible, but no later than February 15th, EUC will be distributing additional information about the water tracking application EyeOnWater. Through EyeOnWater customers will have the ability to track the water used at their property on an hourly, daily, monthly, and yearly basis. Customers will also have the ability to sign up for leak alerts via email or text. EyeOnWater is a FREE app that is available for download on all smartphones.
No. Customers will not be individually notified. After all new meters have been installed, EUC will be distributing additional information about how to access the data distributed by your new meter. See above regarding the application EyeOnWater.
Is there anything I need to do on my end to ensure proper communication?
No. When the meter is installed, technicians activate your new water meter through the use of cellular endpoints. A wireless cellular signal is then transmitted to the meter data collection system. The communication is not transmitted through the customer’s personal internet connection.
When will the new meter readings begin impacting my billing cycle?
EUC has not determined if/when monthly utility billing will be tracked on a traditional consumption basis. Until additional water use data is collected, EUC is unable to determine if alternative billing is necessary. For the time being, EUC intends to continue with a flat rate monthly water bill.
No. Prior to receiving your new meter, EUC was not tracking water consumption or associated monthly meter reads on an individual home basis. The new meter will allow both EUC and the customer to monitor water consumption on a daily basis. EUC has not determined if/when monthly consumption will be reported on monthly utility billing statements.
Is the final reading from my old meter recorded and accessible to me?
No. Reads from the old meters were not recorded on any sort of cycle, therefore the reads would not provide any relevant information.
Will I receive a higher bill temporarily because the new meter is more accurate?
No. Your next bill will not reflect usage from your new meter. EUC will begin utilizing the monthly consumption reports to evaluate total monthly water consumption and monitor for potential leaks. Utility bills will remain unchanged at this time.
No. This information is not available because your old meter readings were not collected on a monthly basis.
Is leak detection already enabled, or does it activate later?
Once the meter is fully activated, EUC has the ability to monitor potential leaks through their system management software. Once the EyeOnWater application (see above) is fully implemented, customers will have the ability to personally monitor usage and potential leaks in their home.
No.
